For New Short-Term Rentals

Congratulations on becoming a vacation rental host! Whether this is your first short-term rental or just another investment property, it’s good to have a starting point to reference when stocking your place.


Having well-stocked homes can go a long way for your guests. Bear Lake is lacking in the shopping department, so you will want to ensure that your guests are covered with all the basics. Your guests might have various needs when staying in your home. The following list covers the basics that you will need to help your guests have a comfortable stay.

Kitchen and Dining

Small Appliances

  • Pressure cooker or slow cooker
  • Blender
  • Toaster
  • Waffle maker
  • Coffee maker*

*Some guests prefer conventional coffee, and others like the pods. We only supply K-Pods (both coffee and hot chocolate). You can get a Keurig machine that is only compatible with pods, or you can spend more and get a machine that does both. You can also offer a simple conventional coffee maker for your guests so they have the option of either, but at a better price point for you.

 

Cooking and Baking Supplies

Bathrooms

  • Enough towels for each guest, plus extras*
  • Enough hand towels for each guest
  • Enough wash cloths for each guest x2
  • Trash can
  • Shower curtain/liner (preferably cloth so we can run them through the wash)
  • Bathroom rugs
  • Washable bath mats 
  • Hairdryer for each bathroom (optional)
  • Toilet brush in every bathroom
  • At least one plunger

*We strongly recommend purchasing all white towels to simplify the laundering process. Costco has high quality & affordable towels!

Bedrooms

  • Two sets of sheets for each bed, plus one extra of each size*
  • Mattress protectors for each bed
  • Duvet covers (one for each bed and one extra of each size)
  • Wastebaskets for each room
  • Hangers, if there are closets
  • Window coverings
 
*We strongly recommend purchasing all white linens to simplify the laundering process. The second set of sheets will be laundered off-site after the cleaning.

Miscellaneous

If Your Rental Allows Children

  • Portacrib like this one (if your home sleeps more than 14 people, you might consider getting multiple portacribs)
  • High chair

Cleaning Supplies

Our cleaning crew will provide most of the supplies that are needed for cleaning your place between guest-stays, but it’s a good idea to have some cleaning supplies handy for your renters while they are staying at your home. They will take better care of your place if they have access to some cleaning supplies, and your home will stay in good shape!

  • If you want to keep a mop at the home, we use the O’ Cedar Spin Mop, but our cleaners bring their own to clean between guest-stays.

If there is anything specific that you would like to stock in your rental for your guests, you are responsible for purchasing the items and arranging the supply closet.
